An expert assistant does more than search.
A list of documents to read.
A cited answer and the next step.
An AI expert assistant is a role-specific assistant that answers questions from an organisation's own technical and operational knowledge, cites where every answer came from, and can act on the answer inside enterprise systems: look up a part, check a warranty, update a work order or open a case.
It sits between enterprise search and an autonomous agent. Search returns documents and leaves the reading to the user. An agent completes a workflow on its own. An expert assistant works alongside a person: it reasons over the right sources for that person's role and asset, gives a grounded answer, and prepares the next action for them to confirm.
The value is in who gets the answer. Field technicians, dealer service desks, junior engineers and operators on a night shift get the answer your senior experts would give, and the experts get their time back for the problems that genuinely need them.
Search finds documents. Expert assistants solve the problem.
Worth settling before you scope one, because the content work, the integration and the controls are different at each level.
Returns a list of documents that match the words typed. The user reads and decides.
Answers in plain language from your content, with citations. Read-only.
Knows the asset and the user's role, checks live systems, gives the fix and prepares the next action.
Completes the whole workflow on its own and escalates only the exceptions.
Nine parts of a production expert assistant.
The model is one part of nine. The quality of an expert assistant is decided by the content work and the controls around it.
Manuals, service bulletins, drawings, specifications, parts lists, SOPs and resolved cases, kept current as documents change.
Foundry: Knowledge ServicesReads tables, exploded diagrams, wiring references and parts lists, not just paragraphs of text.
Foundry: Knowledge ServicesLinks models, serial numbers, parts, fault codes and procedures, so answers fit the exact asset in front of the user.
Foundry: Knowledge ServicesRetrieves only what the user is entitled to see, inherited from your existing access model.
Foundry: AI Control PlaneAnswers composed only from retrieved sources, with a citation for every claim and an abstain path when sources are thin.
Foundry: Agentic AI RuntimeChecks stock, entitlement, warranty and order status, and creates cases or work orders in ERP, CRM and dealer systems.
Foundry: Integration FabricTeams, web portals, mobile and voice for the shop floor, so the assistant is where the question is asked.
Foundry: Agentic AI RuntimeRoutes unresolved questions to the right expert with the conversation, asset and sources attached.
Foundry: Agentic AI RuntimeGolden question sets, regression gates and user feedback reviewed by your experts, so accuracy is measured, not assumed.
Foundry: AI Control PlaneFive expert assistants that actually reach production.
Named by who uses them and what they ask. Most run on the same knowledge foundation, so the second assistant is faster than the first.
Troubleshooting & field service assistant
A field service copilot for technicians. Diagnoses from fault codes and symptoms, walks through the procedure for the exact model and serial, identifies the part and prepares the work order or warranty claim.
Typical questions- What does this fault code mean on this unit?
- Which procedure applies to this serial?
- Is the part in stock, and is it covered?
- Has this failure been seen before?
Dealer knowledge assistant
Gives dealer service desks and parts counters the same answers your support team would, so routine questions stop escalating to the OEM and dealers resolve more at first contact.
Typical questions- Is this part compatible with this model?
- What does the warranty policy allow here?
- Which bulletin supersedes this one?
- What is the status of my claim or order?
Engineering knowledge assistant
Answers from specifications, standards, drawings, test reports and past designs, so engineers stop searching across PLM, shared drives and email, and expertise stays when people move on.
Typical questions- Which standard applies to this component?
- Have we designed something similar before?
- What changed between these revisions?
- Which products use this part?
Shop-floor assistant (voice and chat)
Hands-free answers for operators and maintenance crews at the line: SOPs, changeover steps, quality checks and equipment history, by voice or chat, in the language the shift works in.
Typical questions- What is the changeover sequence for this product?
- What is the tolerance for this check?
- When was this machine last serviced?
- Who do I call for this alarm?
Enterprise self-service assistant
Answers employee questions about policies, processes and enterprise systems, and completes routine requests in ERP, HR and IT service tools, so internal support teams handle only the exceptions.
Typical questions- How do I raise this request in ERP?
- What does the travel policy allow?
- Where is my purchase requisition?
- Reset this access for me

How far should an assistant go beyond the answer?
Decided per assistant and per action with the business owner, before anything is built. Most start at prepare-and-confirm.
Grounded answer with citations. No access to live systems.
Read-onlyReads live data such as stock, entitlement and asset history to tailor the answer.
Read live systemsDrafts the work order, claim or case. The user confirms and the assistant submits it.
Recommended startCompletes routine actions on its own inside defined limits, escalating anything outside them.
After evaluationPasses the whole workflow to an agent that runs it end to end, with monitoring and reversal.
High volume, low varianceA confident wrong answer is worse than no answer.
A technician acting on a wrong torque value or a superseded procedure is a safety and warranty problem. These eight controls ship with every assistant we build.
Answers come only from content your owners have approved, never from the model's general knowledge.
Every answer links to the document, page or record behind it, so users can verify in seconds.
Below a confidence threshold, the assistant says it does not know and routes the question to a person.
Superseded bulletins and old revisions are excluded, so answers reflect the current procedure.
Users and dealers see only the content and records they are entitled to.
Real questions with expert-approved answers, tested before release and on every change.
Flagged answers are reviewed by your experts and fixed at the source, not patched in the prompt.
Every question, source retrieved, answer and action retained and searchable for audit.
Grounded in the expertise your business actually depends on.
Flagship depth in two industries, with the same assistant patterns across healthcare, retail, consumer goods, logistics, energy and media.

TF VisionExpert assistant questions
Search returns documents and a chatbot answers from a script or general model knowledge. An AI expert assistant answers from your own approved content, cites every source, knows the user's role and asset, checks live systems, and prepares the next action. It escalates to a person when it is not confident.
Service manuals, bulletins, drawings, specifications, parts lists, SOPs, standards, policies, resolved cases and service history, plus live data from ERP, CRM, dealer, PLM and maintenance systems. Content is ingested with its permissions and version history intact.
Answers come only from approved sources, every answer is cited, superseded documents are excluded, and the assistant abstains below a confidence threshold. Accuracy is tested against golden question sets approved by your experts before release and on every change.
Yes. The troubleshooting assistant reads service history, asset configuration and parts availability from your existing systems, and can prepare work orders or warranty claims for the technician to confirm, under your permission model.
Timelines depend most on the state of the content. Where manuals and case history are digital and current, the first assistant moves quickly. Where content is scanned, scattered or out of date, content preparation comes first. We assess this in discovery and say which applies before we quote.
Technicians, dealer service desks, engineers, operators and employees, through Teams, web portals, mobile apps and voice on the shop floor. The same knowledge foundation serves every channel.
Yes. External users only see content and records their role and dealer agreement entitle them to. Retrieval is permission-aware, and every question and answer is traced for audit.
An assistant works alongside a person and prepares actions for them to confirm. An agent completes a workflow on its own and escalates only exceptions. Many programmes start with an assistant and promote proven, high-volume actions to an agent later.
We are model independent. Models sit behind the IX AI Gateway and can be changed without rebuilding the assistant. Assistants run in your environment, in the cloud, on-premises or hybrid, and your content stays under your control.
Content changes and accuracy drifts if no one owns it. We operate assistants through AgentOps and AI Managed Services, covering evaluation, content freshness and tuning, or hand your team the runbooks, golden sets and documentation to run it.
