Student Attendance Dashboard Design and Development Using Power BI

Intellectyx collaborated with the Buffalo Public Schools to address the U.S. Department of Education’s focus on school climate research through the development of the ED School Climate Surveys dashboard. This initiative aimed to provide the district with a comprehensive tool to measure and understand school climate perceptions among students, staff, and parents. Additionally, Intellectyx created an attendance dashboard for BPS, facilitating the tracking and monitoring of attendance and absenteeism at various levels, including school, district, and Special Education.

 

The project involved a thorough analysis of data sources, including the student information system (Infinite Campus) and staff information system (MUNIS). Intellectyx seamlessly connected these systems to Power BI, allowing for the creation and deployment of tailored dashboards and visualizations according to BPS requirements. The result was an intuitive and accessible platform, empowering BPS users to generate ad-hoc reports, monitor changes over time, and drill down to district, school, grade, and individual student levels for deeper insights and key performance indicators. The dashboards align with standard design guidelines, promoting informed decision-making and enhancing the overall effectiveness of school management.
